Burj Khalifa fait partie d’un vaste projet urbain, immobilier et architectural couvrant une superficie de 2 km2. Il s’agit de créer un nouveau quartier. Ce quartier doit comprendre, outre le gratte-ciel du même nom, un lac artificiel et de nombreux bâtiments de grandes dimensions. En tout, il prévoit un ensemble de 30 000 résidences, neuf hôtels dont The Address Downtown Burj Dubaï achevé en 2008, au moins 19 tours résidentielles, le plus grand centre commercial du monde, le Dubai Mall qui y a ouvert ses portes en 2008, 3 hectares de parcs, et le lac artificiel de 12 hectares Burj Khalifa Lake.

Un hectare : Un hectare correspond à 10 000 mètres carrés soit l'équivalent d'une surface carrée de 100 mètres de côté, soit un hectomètre carré.

Depuis leur apparition, à la fin du XIXe (19e) siècle, aux États-Unis (Amérique), des centaines de gratte-ciel ont été construits à travers le monde.Aujourd’hui, la plupart des plus hautes tours du monde se trouvent en Asie.Actuellement, le plus haut gratte-ciel se trouve aux Émirats arabes unis. C'est la tour Burj Khalifa : elle mesure 828 m de haut.La tour Eiffel mesure 324 m. Sa construction s’est terminée en 1889.

Des tonnes de béton, de l'acier, du verre, de l'aluminium ...Un chantier pharaonique !22 millions d’heures de travail ont été nécessaires à son édification.

La construction

Burj Khalifa a été principalement construite par des ouvriers immigrés d’Asie du Sud-Est, dont les conditions de travail ont fait l’objet de critiques de la part des associations de défense des droits de l’homme. Des articles de presse rapportent que des charpentiers qualifiés gagnent à peu près 7,60 dollars américains soit 5,50 € par jour et que les ouvriers gagnent 4,00 dollars américains soit 2,85 € par jour. Les syndicats étaient interdits aux Émirats arabes unis jusqu’à une époque récente.

Le 21 mars 2006, les ouvriers se sont révoltés, protestant contre leurs conditions de travail et rémunération. Au cours de ces émeutes, ils ont endommagé des voitures, bureaux et équipements de construction sans toucher aux mosquées.

In attesa del Grand Prix di Roma che prenderà il via alle 14.30 , nella mattinata della terza giornata del Longines Global Champions Tour al Circo Massimo si è svolta la CSI5* 1.45 a tempo. I 32 binomi, tra i più forti al mondo, hanno dato spettacolo sfidandosi all’ultimo centesimo di secondo per ottenere la vittoria sul tracciato ideato da Uliano Vezzani. Ad avere la meglio con zero penalità e il tempo di 50”73 è l’irlandese Richard Howley in sella a Mansini Ltd (medaglia d’oro al Campionato del Mondo riservato ai giovani cavalli 2018). Con soli quattro centesimi in più, chiude al secondo posto l’olandese Victor Bettendorf in sella a Cancun Torel Z (0, 50”77), vincitore della 1.60 di ieri. In terza posizione il francese Edward Levy su Lyon van de Platann (0, 51”72) seguito dall’amazzone tedesca Celine Schoonbroodt- De Azevedo su Deesse des Embruns (0, 52”34). Il migliore degli italiani - 26esimo al mondo - è l’appuntato Emanuele Gaudiano che si è aggiudicato il quinto posto in sella a Julius.D (0, 52”78).

Le gare della terza mattina 

Prima del CSI5*, ad aprire il programma di giornata era stata la gara a barrage CSI2* 1.15. Dei 15 concorrenti al via in 6 hanno ottenuto il pass per il jump-off a tempo che si è svolto su 7 ostacoli comprensivi di gabbia. La tredicenne toscana Camilla Boricchi ha sbaragliato la concorrenza. In sella al suo Cor non ha commesso errori, fermando il cronometro in 34”62 e facendo suonare il primo inno italiano della tappa capitolina. Alle sue spalle l’inglese Mark Hallion su Maurice (0/0, 36”74) e l’amazzone greca Milena-Maria Pappa con Eh Bienj van T&L (0/0, 39”37). Al quarto posto il luogotenente dell'Aeronautica Militare Stefano Nogara su Avenge Z (0/0, 39”71).  Alle 10.00 in punto invece è andata in scena la CSI2* 1.30 Prix a barrage. Dei 26 binomi provenienti da 10 nazioni diverse in 12, non commettendo penalità nel percorso base, hanno avuto accesso al secondo round a tempo. L’agente scelto delle Fiamme Oro Luca Coata in sella a Cassirana del Rilate con zero penalità nel tempo di 33”38 ha staccato l’israeliano Yali Kass su Izzytimes Vdp al secondo posto (0, 33”38), in premiazione nel CSI2* per tre giorni consecutivi. Al terzo posto è arrivata l’amazzone olandese Elize van de Mheen, già medaglia di bronzo a squadre all’Europeo di Kaposár nel 2017, che in sella al suo Kilimanjaro ha fermato il cronometro in 34”54 e zero errori. Buona prestazioni anche per Sheikh Khalifa Al Thani su Emiro Delle Sementarecce (0, 34”60) al quarto posto e per l’azzurro Alberto Carrara con Insallah VII S in quinta posizione (0, 35”02).

Da non perdere
